Amber Solberg is an illustrator, artist, and instructor. Hailing from the prairies, she headed east to the ocean and now lives between spaces in Treaty 6 (AB) and Kjipuktuk (NS). A project manager for murals, classes and creative resource dissemination, her personal work is about illustration and getting back to play: in rediscovering the joy found with drawing. The artistic work she makes is about looking for the jokes and joy, the fear or the feelings to be found through illustration. With vibrant visuals, undulating linework, and observable language built up from a repetition of dots and dashes, she redraws matter from her subjects of interest (flora, fauna, and fantasy). By rediscovering the fun in drawing, she creates art that is engaging to the viewer and entices them to embrace their creative (and sometimes silly) sides.
