Architecture49 is a Canadian multi-disciplinary architecture and design practice with studios in cities across Canada. Our Atlantic team, based in Halifax, works closely with our clients and communities throughout the Maritimes to create meaningful places that reflect and enhance local identity and culture.

We believe architecture has the power to inspire, unite, and enrich community life. Architecture is more than buildings; it shapes communities while reflecting the values, aspirations and identity of the people it serves. Our design philosophy fosters learning, cultural exploration, and connection by creating opportunities for the everyday interactions, gatherings, and shared experiences that animate community life.

Across urban and rural communities from coast to coast, we draw inspiration from the character of each place and the people who shape it. Through projects ranging from schools and healthcare facilities to civic buildings and public spaces, we explore how design can shape experience, strengthen local identity, and contribute to vibrant, inclusive communities.

Our work is grounded in the belief that design is collaborative. By bringing together Dalhousie’s future city makers with our team of architects, interior designers, technologists, and landscape architects, we create spaces shaped by diverse perspectives and realized through shared effort.
