Edith Pahlke is 86 years young and lives in an apartment in the Manor at Northwood, a seniors complex located three blocks from HERMES. Formally trained in the 1950s and 60s in graphic arts and printmaking with Werner Bunz at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, Germany, Pahlke has continued to create linocuts, prints, and graphic projects for much of her life that focus on the interplay of letters and words, numbers, and images, often presented as haikus and short texts. Many of these works evolved into calendar designs which, over the years, became Edith’s annual gift to loved ones and those close to her.
