Excel Garay

Excel Garay is a Filipina-Canadian diasporic-settler occupying Mi'kma’ki territory in Kjipuktuk (Nova Scotia, Halifax). They are an artist/curator, cultural worker, and educator. They’re completing their double degree from NSCAD University with a focus on BA in Art History and BFA in Painting. They are the founder and co-organizer of the BIPOC Collective in NSCAD University. They've been invited as a guest lecturer in NSCAD and a panelist/speaker for the National Inquiry on Anti-Asian Racism hosted by UBC in 2021.Topics such as diasporic intimacies, collectivism, aesthetic theory and methodologies that embody cultural anti/post/decolonial elements are their interests.
