Gloire Aelfaz

Aelfaz is a self-taught visual artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His practice explores identity, memory,  culture, resilience, and the experiences of the African diaspora through portraiture and painting. Influenced  by African culture, hip-hop, street culture, and personal experiences of migration and belonging, his work  combines expressive portraiture with contemporary visual language and personal storytelling. His work often  reflects on how people carry their histories, memories, and identities with them while adapting to new  environments. Through bold portraits, layered imagery, and experimental approaches to presentation, Aelfaz  creates work that invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences of memory, place, and belonging.

Aelfaz has exhibited his work in Halifax through exhibitions and community art events, including NOCTURNE  (Noise Makers), 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery, and other local initiatives.
