Hyperloop Theatre aims to create innovative and exciting performance art that embraces the ever-evolving technologies that surround us by inviting them into our creative processes. Spurred on by theatre’s migration to online platforms during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hyperloop seeks to refine and develop new methods of creation made possible thanks to modern technology, whether virtually or within brick-and-mortar theatres.
Jean-Michel Cliche (he/him) is a theatre artist of Lebanese and French settler descent based out of Fredericton, NB. He is the Co-Artistic Director of Solo Chicken Productions’ the coop, a platform for contemporary artists to research, develop and perform original works of physical theatre. He is also the Artistic Director of Hyperloop Theatre, which explores the fusion of technology and performance. As a playwright, his plays have been performed and workshopped by Theatre New Brunswick, Lunchbox Theatre, Saint John Theatre Co. NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival, and more. Jean-Michel is a fight director and violence designer, and is a certified member of Fight Director’s Canada. He teachers drama at the University of New Brunswick.
Kya (she/her) is an actor and puppeteer located primarily in Halifax, with sporadic stints in Toronto. Recent theatre credits include: The Hobbit (Festival Antigonish), How The Light Lies (On You) (New Pants/EFT Stages), two North American tours of blacklight puppet show The Rainbow Fish (Mermaid Theatre of NS), Mike Malloy: Kid Detective! (Sinking Ship), Macbeth (Steady Theatre Co.), Joyride (Matchstick), Shakespeare in Love (Neptune), and she was featured as Joey del Marco in Slut: The Play (Lunasea). Recent film/TV credits include: Diggstown (CBC), Dawn, Her Dad, and the Tractor (Crave), Escaping the NXIVM Cult (Sony TV: Lifetime), and These Woods Are Haunted (Ocean Magic TV). Training: Fountain School of Performing Arts (Dalhousie), ANIMOTION Puppetry Intensive (Mermaid Theatre of NS).
TRENT LOGAN is a New Brunswick born theatre technician, designer, and manager. Since completing his degree at Mount Allison University, he has filled several production roles for theatres across New Brunswick and into Nova Scotia. He currently works as the Technical Director of Memorial Hall on the UNB Fredericton Campus. Past credits include: Strawberries in January (Live Bait Theatre; Set Design), No Man's Island (Lighting; Saint John Theatre Company), and Alice, a dance tale (Perpetual Motion Dance Studio; Lighting Design).
