Liudmyla Romashchenko

Originally from Ukraine, Liudmyla (short name Myla) is a classically trained artist and educator now proudly based in Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia. Myla's artistic talent was discovered by her father in her childhood. Her artistic journey began with six years of rigorous study at a classical art school, where she mastered perspective, composition, anatomy, and color theory. When Myla was finishing art school, her father died suddenly, so for many years after his death she could not paint, because every time she returned to the easel she was reminded of her father and his loss. Only many years later, Myla's husband did everything to get her to start painting again. Myla now holds master classes, paints large commissioned paintings (portraits, landscapes, compositions, fantasy) and miniatures for sale at the Historical Property Puffin Store, and teaches drawing lessons to children and teenagers, and she loves it! Deeply passionate about teaching, Myla specializes in working with children aged 7 to 13. Before moving to Canada, she spent years running art therapy sessions for pediatric oncology patients in a hospice, bringing comfort and light through creativity. Today, she channels this rich pedagogical background into Luromart Studio, where she introduces young artists to the beauty of traditional techniques, such as European egg tempera painting. As an artist, Myla Romashchenko prioritizes classical drawing and the harmony of color, while carefully nurturing the unique individual style of each student. Her lifelong dream has been to establish a proper art school for children. Finding herself in the vibrant Halifax area—a community deeply rooted in the arts and home to NSCAD University—this dream feels both logical and profoundly inspiring.Through her teaching and personal works, she bridges her rich European artistic heritage with the scenic inspiration of her new home on the East Coast.
