Lou Campbell

Lou Campbell (they/them) is a performer, writer and sound artist based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. They create work both independently, and in collaboration with the collective they co-run: Probably Theatre. Their performance practice blends stand-up comedy and drag, displayed most recently in their celebrated solo show PRUDE, which premiered and toured over the summer of 2022. They also create sound art, such as their most recent piece, Eventide that was featured in the Zuppa Theatre/Ecology Action Centre’s "50 Things." Their past theatre credits include "PRUDE" with Eastern Front Theatre and the Toronto Fringe Festival, "Fat Juliet" with Eastern Front Theatre, and "Connections: Macrodigitals" with Eastern Front Theatre. Currently they are working on a large-scale virtual expansion of a project with their collective called "This Inescapable City." The piece will use the original sound piece of the same name, written by the collective and designed by Steph Raposo, as a prompt for new work. It will feature the work of the three collective members as well as 10 other artists from Kjipuktuk and Tkaronto. There will be two in-person showings as well as a digital exhibition in the fall.
