Mengnan Qu is a graduate of the BFA program at NSCAD University and holds an MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She currently teaches in the Jewellery Department at NSCAD. Qu is also an independent artist based on Halifax, Nova Scotia.

With a perceptive and sensitive eye, Qu draws on her diverse cultural and educational background to bring a unique perspective to her practice. She works across a wide range of materials and techniques, guided by the belief that process and medium should serve concept and storytelling. Her work continually explores both traditional and contemporary approaches.

Qu’s dedication has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Enamelist Society Juror’s Choice Award, the Niche Award, and recognition as a Talente Award Finalist. She has served on the exhibition committees for both the China International Metal Art Exhibition and the China International Enamel Art Exhibition.

Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Beijing—two of which were supported by grants from the Canada Council for the Arts    —as well as in group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and North America.
