Shannyn Reid is a textiles artist located in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Shannyn is known for her detailed text embroidery and life-sized soft sculptures which focus on re representing the mundanity of the everyday and calling attention to lost significance. She uses textiles as a medium to encourage fun and play within fine art and as an attempt to remind viewers that art is for anyone who wishes to behold it. Shannyn has completed her MFA at York University in Ontario and her BFA at Memorial’s Grenfell Campus in Newfoundland. She is the 2023 winner of The Shaw Shanks Memorial Award in Textiles, among several other awards through the universities. Shannyn is currently completing her BED at Memorial in hopes to teach the next generation of young artists.
