As the Engagement Specialist for CIOOS (The Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System) Atlantic, Shen works to identify and develop relationships with potential data contributors and users, and participates in the CIOOS Communications Committee. CIOOS also now supports all physical, biogeochemical, and other essential ocean variables aligned with the Global Ocean Observing System, and we are building capacity to include biological variables in our system. Shen Molloy holds a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University. Her graduate research focused on single-use plastic mitigation and legislation in Atlantic Canada. Shen has a keen interest in the impacts of climate change on coastal communities, what strategies can be implemented to mitigate these challenges, and how to best educate the public about these issues. With a passion for the environment, Shen has authored a climate change education teaching guide for grades K-8, and a public report outlining climate change adaptation strategies through her previous work with ENGOs. Shen was recognized by Mount Allison University for her professional and volunteer leadership experience in her academic pursuits, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. Shen is motivated by her desire to advocate for a sustainable future that is economically viable, socially just, and ecologically sound.
