Got time? Love artists? Looking for ways to get involved?

Nocturne is currently seeking a few new board members to fill important positions within our Board of Directors. Being on the Board of Directors for an arts organization is a very rewarding experience and now, more than ever, an important one both to bring us together and to support artists and their work. The Nocturne Board of Directors is a great opportunity to learn-on-the-job about governance and non-profit leadership and we welcome interested applicants at all stages of their careers.

Roles we are currently seeking applications for (click to see individual calls):

Corporate Secretary
Director of Communications

Director at Large - Vice-Chairperson

Director at Large - Artist Care & Support

Don't see a role that totally speaks to you and your skills? Reach out anyway - Nocturne needs dedicated folks to make it possible to do what we do!

While each board position has different responsibilities, as a member of the board of directors, the duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Attendance of monthly evening board meetings and committee meetings - currently we are meeting virtually for the foreseeable future
  • Meet and liaise with community partners and sponsors
  • Contribute to both short-term and long-term strategic planning
  • General support in the management of the event and organization, including acting as a resource for other board members, committee members, and other volunteers as needed
  • Undergo additional training, when available to further develop your role (anti-oppression training, governance training etc.)
  • Help form policies and procedures for the ongoing betterment and growth of the festival and our organization
  • Time commitment varies but is approximately 4-5 hrs required per month with less in the winter months and slightly more in the months leading up to the event

Nocturne has a long history of relying on the skills of individuals within their work/daily life to inform the roles they take on the board and are interested in hearing from any candidate that feels their skills would be put to good use by the organization.

INTERESTED?

Please apply by email to [email protected] and [email protected] with your CV and a *brief* statement of intent. Just give us a couple of sentences on why you are interested - nothing too formal. If written applications are not your thing it is also an option to set up a meeting anytime and tell us about why you would make a great board member.

Nocturne’s core values include Creative & Artistic Excellence, Professionalism, Inclusion & Diversity, Collaboration & Teamwork, Sustainability, and Innovation. Nocturne recognizes our participation and complicity with the historic barriers to accessing job and volunteer opportunities in the arts. Applicants are welcomed to self-identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+, disabled, femme or any other community that is important to their identity. Your lived experience is just as important as your learned experience and Nocturne looks forward to welcoming members from the many communities that exist here in Mi'kma'ki.
