We are looking for a Programming Coordinator!

*To qualify you must have just finished an academic year for 2015/2016 and plan to return to a full-time post-secondary institution in the 2016/2017 academic year.

Nocturne is a fall festival that brings art and energy to the streets of Halifax between 6pm and midnight on a Saturday night in late October each year. The completely free event showcases and celebrates the visual arts scene in Halifax. Nocturne, designed and planned by volunteers, is an opportunity for everyone to experience the art of Halifax in a whole new light. Nocturne is a non-profit organization and has been operating successfully for eight years, 2016 will be the ninth year for the event.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS

  • Read, arrange and prepare submitted artists’ project packages for the jury
  • Prepare call for proposal for ferry performances with the programming committee
  • Read, arrange and prepare ferry performances packages for the jury
  • Prepare list of selected projects (anchor, beacon, galleries & community groups) in Word and Excel
  • Input all programming data in data base
  • Ensure all deadlines are met

COORDINATION SKILLS

  • Manage tight and multiple deadlines at once
  • Help coordinate volunteers (board, committee members, night of volunteers)
  • Coordinate programming efforts with HRM and the curator

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Maintain communications with all applicants and selected artists and performers
  • Liaise with partners and sponsors (venues, programming needs)
  • Prepare list of programming messages for the communications team
  • Prepare French version of the program guide

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

  • Maintain good relationships with the Board of directors and all committee members
  • Maintain good relationships with partners and sponsors
  • Ensure all deliverables are respected

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University student in a relative field (arts, museology, business administrator or other)
  • Experience working and planning special events
  • Excellent communications skills

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

***The position is partially funded by Service Canada . To qualify you must be a student enrolled full time in a post-secondary institution for the 2016/2017 academic year and also just finished for the 2015/2016 academic year.***

Dates required: June 20, 2016 – August 26, 2016 (10 weeks)
Salary $14 per hour (35 hours per week)
