That's right! Our 2022 Nocturne Call For Projects is LIVE!

Be a part of the 2022 Nocturne Art at Night festival to be held in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) this October 13-16. This will be our 15th annual contemporary art festival and our curatorial team in residence, Stephanie Yee & Lux Habrich, have proposed LEGACIES as the theme.

At Nocturne we hold space for new experiences and communal exchange through the exhibition of temporary public art installations, performances, and screenings with a focus on promoting emerging and professional artists, as well as creative and experimental work.

Before you head over to check out the call for projects, we thought we would fill you in on some *new things* in our call for projects this year!

SO WHAT'S NEW FOR NOCTURNE 2022?

  1. The Access & Support Supplement can be added to any project application and is in place to further our values of accessibility, inclusion and artist care in everything we do. Artists can apply for up to $250 towards project accessibility costs and up to $250 towards artist care/support.
  2. Our curators are developing an Artist Support Network which will be available to selected artists to better assist during the creation and presentation of their projects.
  3. Artists are no longer responsible for organizing a venue for their project at the application stage! This is a big shift! We are asking artists to include a "type" of venue in their application but the rest will happen after projects are selected.
  4. We have an earlier deadline this year: MAY 1, 2022 11:59pm ADT. This earlier deadline will mean we can inform all artists by June 15th (at the latest) and they can get started on their projects right away. As an added bonus it means our deadline now aligns with other funding opportunities artists may wish to apply to to further support their applications.
  5. We have two info sessions and will have some special guests joining us!

We can't wait to see what you have planned for our 15th annual Nocturne festival! Let us know
