Buoyantly (dis)Placed est une œuvre céramique flottante dans le port de Halifax qui réagit à son environnement sans pour autant changer de position. La structure représente une forme abstraite de la terre. La croix « X » fait référence aux cartes et à la conquête et la revendication. Ce travail s'inspire de la complexité de la propriété et mais aussi de la psychologie qui l'entoure et montre les résultats positifs et négatifs liés aux désirs de propriété. Nous explorons ici les sentiments créés par la séparation physique et l’inaccessibilité à cette terre flottante non réclamée.
Buoyantly (dis)Placed is a ceramic floating dock that floats in the Halifax Harbour, reacting to it’s environment while still remaining secure. The structure represents an abstract form of land; a dock could be described as an extension or island for our bodies to stand upon. The 'X marks the spot' references to maps and the quest to conquer and claim. This work is inspired by the complexity of ownership and the psychology around it. The positive and negative outcomes related to desires of ownership are of interest to this project. Explored here are the feelings created by the physical separation and inaccessibility to this unclaimed floating land.
