This exhibit emulates the feelings of isolation, helplessness, and uncertainty experienced by many in our community facing #UNIGNORABLE issues such as poverty, mental health, and homelessness. Through this exhibit and the larger campaign, United Way is shining a light on the issues in our community that often go unnoticed as we all go about our busy lives. We’re here to talk about the issues and also the solutions that we as an organization are working on every day. United Way Halifax volunteers are available to guide each participant through the tent filled with a water-based haze and lit up with the florescent, #UNIGNORABLE colour. In the tent, participants hear a haunting and inspirational audio soundtrack designed by Toronto-based sound designer Steph Raposo that features stories from individuals who have firsthand experience with #UNIGNORABLE issues such as homelessness, poverty, or social isolation. Each participant can leave feeling empathetic to anyone experiencing these feelings of isolation or helplessness and more connected to the issues in our community and hopefully inspired that there is hope and they can be a part of creating that hope.
