The Scene of the Crime: An Exhibition of Mystery and Suspense
Interactive and Unusually Wonderful this show will loosely interpret the popular board game CLUE with paintings, sculptures created by a variety of artists that will be displayed in windows of storefronts along Barrington Street. There will be a silent play happening in our windows by a local theatre group, acting out the “scene of the crime” at select dates and times.

Driving at night provides a sense of comfort for me. I am alive in the evenings, my mind often more alert than at any other part of the day. Moving through the streets and highways, I have the opportunity to just be. And even when my thoughts move to worry or sadness, the lights I see, often from other cars, allow my vision to focus, creating an almost memorizing effect, as well as a reminder that I am not alone.
In “Illuminations”, I hope to highlight this comfort, and perhaps remind others of the peace they find in it. I have taken moments, such as when the tail lights reflect in the rain on the road or the street lamps light up the clouds, and I have slowed them to a stop. A perfect serenity exists in these moments, and in these moments each of us is simply allowed to be.

This collection of playful, spirited oil paintings take a stroll through nostalgic popular culture from 1960s to 1990s, each is titled with wise, and not so wise, quotes from greats such as Big Bird, Tarzan, G.I. Joe, Wonderwoman and more. Viewers will also be able to access original tv footage associated with each iconic character’s portrait using their cell phones. While it might make you grin, this collection of paintings is also a contemplation about media, influence and trajectories.
The Scene of the Crime: An Exhibition of Mystery and Suspense
This show will ask artists to loosely interpret characters, rooms and weapons from the popular boardgame CLUE with paintings and sculptures. The works will be displayed in windows of storefronts along Barrington Street. There will also be a silent play happening in our gallery windows by a local theatre group, acting out the “scene of the crime” on Saturday, October 17th. Viewers can watch this from a socially distanced location. There will be MYSTERY SCORE SHEETS handed out from our butler outside the gallery doors…find the art. Solve the mystery!
