Over the last three months of the COVID-19 crisis, we have created an international network of audio pen pals. We set up correspondences between strangers were who have been exchanging an ongoing series of personal messages about life under quarantine. As this process has progressed, these strangers have gotten to know each other and know about another person’s journey through these uncertain times. So far fifty participants from vastly different walks of life have participated, creating a tapestry of stories about the remarkable transformations that are happening globally. By talking about their everyday lives, these strangers have created an intimate and honest portrait of a moment we are all sharing.

We are adapting this material for a podcast series, as well as for stand-along radio documentaries, an interactive website, and media installation pieces. We are creating a series of audio documentaries each highlighting a single correspondence. We are also collaborating on a special project with kids for a collaboration with Theatre Direct in Toronto.

For Nocturne we will present three episodes throughout the week. We would both broadcast these shows on local radio (CKDU) as well as release them as podcasts through a custom website that would contain show notes and further information about the project and the participants.
