In the gallery, Studio 21 opens an exhibition of work by Vicki DaSilva. Vicki has a 25-year career developing her practice of “light painting” and “light graffiti”. “Light painting” involves sweeping movement of a fluorescent tube, captured by extended exposure photography. Her subjects have included political graffiti, as well as interior and exterior landscape interventions. More recently she is working on a series of “woven” light tartans.

On Saturday October 16, Vicki DaSilva will create a series of free to the public, ‘Light Hug’ portraits outside at the corner of Queen and Doyle Streets. She uses an 8-foot fluorescent lamp to encircle participants and create extended exposure photos. They will be downloadable to participants from the Nocturne website.
