SHAPE SHIFT
SHAPE/SHIFT
Trans. Neon. Kin. Cyborg. Facets. Bees. Nakedness. Existing.
SHAPE/SHIFT is a play of light and sensation through bodies of stars, water, rock, humans, animals and plants. Layers of memory, experience and imagination co-mingling in dappled sunlight, clear moonbeams and colored strobes. A neon psychic scavenger hunt. The liminal space beyond fixed identity and shape. A dance party of encoded messages: worlds within our reach, sanctuaries for rest and revelry.
SHAPE/SHIFT is a series of large scale mixed media drawings installed where witnesses can watch the drawings move and change in colored lights. You are invited to bring headphones to tune into a solo sound track, wear neon colors, sparkles and shimmers to play in the light and move through the space.

SHAPE/SHIFT is a play of light and sensation through bodies of stars, water, rock, humans, animals and plants. The drawings are layers of memory, experience and imagination co-mingling in dappled sunlight, clear moonbeams and colored strobes. A neon psychic scavenger hunt. The liminal space beyond fixed identity and shape. A dance party of encoded messages of worlds within our reach, possibilities of this time, sanctuaries for rest and revelry.
SHAPE/SHIFT is a sense making project. A digestion and reflection on the intellectual, creative and emotional streams of the artist's life. Trans history, art and cultural production have guided and illuminated the paths of existence. Queer ecology has inspired the questioning of boundaries between human and more that human beings. Time travel and speculative fiction have opened portals of possible futures. Family stories, dreams and emotional swellings and overflow have arrived invited and uninvited.
The wandering and unfolding of these drawings asks:
Could my body be inside of this dead fish with sharp teeth?
What if my skin was made of moonlight?
Can I feel belonging amongst these ferns?
Are these lines on my face like the one on the rock face?
How would it feel to have bees in the place of my teeth?
If I change into a barnacle will you still know I am here?
SHAPE/SHIFT is a series of large scale mixed media drawings that will be installed in an outdoor public space where witnesses can watch the drawings move and change in colored lights. Multiple interactive experiences will be possible- participants are invited to bring headphones to tune into a solo sound track, wear neon colors, sparkles and shimmers to play in the light and move through the space.
