A Spec of We: an interplay earth justice performance

A Spec of We: An InterPlay Earth Justice Performance is an improvised, participatory performance that brings to life our innate connection to the natural world. Here, human and animal puppets come together in movement and play, illuminating the ways that we are woven together within the wider web of life.

The juxtaposition of us, as shrunken human, amidst the world of our enlarged animal kin is intended to provoke reflection and ignite curiosity around our innate connection and place within the natural world that seemingly surrounds us. It is a chance for us to re-see and re-imagine our true nature as a species and our relationship with the crawling, hopping, leaping ones and beyond. A Spec of We is an invitation to consider the ways that our kinship with all of life is integral to our collective existence, well-being, survival and thrival!

InterPlay is powerful improvised practice rooted in play and connection. It invites us to play with our birthright of word, sound, storytelling, movement and stillness. In playing and attuning to our body wisdom, we can begin to notice what brings us more joy, ease, grace, affirmation and connection in life. This in turn offers greater capacity and solidarity in navigating the personal, collective and systemic challenges we face as a species.

This performance will be a participatory one! At the beginning of the performance we will gather ideas and reflections from the audience to jam and play with during our performance. Come at the top of the hour and if you are still with us at the end you might find yourself drawn into this larger-than-human landscape of playful magic.
