G.L.A.M. Bats
Join us for a G.L.A.M. Bats performance and drop-in lounge experience hosted by Graeme Patterson and Mitchell Wiebe with occasional special guests. Connected to Patterson’s current exhibition Strange Birds, this event is described as somewhere between burlesque and a musical about galleries where rock ballads can also exist.

Strange Birds presents Sackville, New Brunswick artist Graeme Patterson’s visually compelling installation which thoughtfully delves into the ecological consequences of a warming planet. Combining sculpture, scale models, robotics, virtual reality, music, projected video and stop-motion animation, the exhibition immerses audiences into a both surreal and sometimes whimsical universe. It imagines a post-apocalyptic landscape which is almost entirely flooded and populated by two anthropomorphized dancing birdlike figures, resembling a heron and a starling. These avatars reflect two aspects of the artist, and through his vision, we viewers can slip into his world, one which eerily mirrors our own.
Curated by Ray Cronin, Strange Birds is circulated and organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery & Dalhousie Art Gallery.
