A Love Letter to Craft...

A Love Letter to Craft… is a participatory project designed to celebrate the deep connections between people, place and craft. We will invite gallery visitors to write personal "love letters" expressing their appreciation for the artists, mentors, materials, and traditions that make up our vibrant craft community. This initiative will create a space for reflection and gratitude, grounding the gallery as a hub of shared stories and mutual admiration. These letters will serve as a powerful, collective tribute to the impact of craft on individual lives.

This project will provide a unique opportunity for both the gallery and its community to share in a powerful, positive experience. It will solidify the gallery's role as a gathering place for creative expression and dialogue. By giving a platform to the voices of our visitors, we are not only celebrating craft but also celebrating the people who find meaning in it. The project will generate invaluable content that can be used to promote the gallery's mission and attract new audiences who are eager to connect with the local arts scene on a more personal level.

A dedicated writing station will be set up in the gallery. An aesthetically welcoming writing station will be set up in the gallery, providing all necessary materials. Locally designed stationary and prompt cards that read: "Who introduced you to your favorite craft?", "What is a piece of craft that holds special meaning to you?", "What do you love most about the craft community?" etc.

The Mailbox: A beautifully handcrafted, sealed container or "mailbox" will serve as a collection point for the completed letters, lending a sense of ceremony to the process. The mailbox will be hung one week before the event and left up for one week after.

The letters will be collected as heartfelt testimonials that will be preserved as a tangible archive, which could later be displayed, compiled into a book, or featured online.
