This project interprets an embodied experience as how the body perceives through the senses and permeates it with certain emotional qualities related to or elicited by sound. By channelling the underwater sounds of the harbour, we gain access to a sensory world that is, for the most part, unavailable to us. To then express these sounds as a tactile sensation on the skin or a visual interpretation to the eye presents embodied encounters of both the natural and human-affected worlds that are both original, unfamiliar and inaccessible. In this project, the notion of Embodied City is manifested by borrowing the sounds (auditory) from a natural and distinctive feature of Halifax, through a recorded documentation process, creatively transforming its original modality into new modalities in a way that is an embodied experience as haptic and visual.
