VIGILANCE, presented by inesS Circus, is a family-friendly contemporary aerial circus show that explores the rhythms of city life. Using aerial silks, hoop, flying pole, and more, performers turn everyday habits—glancing around, holding still, pausing to breathe—into soaring spins, sudden drops, and hanging stillness. Blending laughter, thrills, and tenderness, VIGILANCE invites children, teens, and adults to explore what it means to feel safe, courageous, and connected as we move through our shared streets and public spaces.
VIGILANCE is a series of aerial circus acts from the Halifax-based inesS Circus community, designed for families, teens, and adults to experience together. Set in a world that feels a lot like our own busy city streets and buses, the show plays with the small things we all do to feel safe and look out for one another: checking our surroundings, holding a railing, pausing to think, taking a steadying breath. Using a range of apparatuses—aerial silks, hoop, flying pole, and more—the performers turn these everyday habits into aerial theatre. A quick glance over the shoulder becomes a dizzying spin. A tight grip on a hoop becomes an upside-down reaction. A moment of stillness in the crowd becomes a suspended, quiet pose high in the air. Instead of focusing on crime or fear, VIGILANCE looks at how it feels inside our bodies when we’re on alert, and what helps us come back to calm. Audiences can expect to see amazing strength, sudden drops, and peaceful shapes, along with the themes of trust, care, and resilience.
Performances run for 15 minutes every 30 min from 7-10pm inesS Circus is a Halifax-based aerial circus school and performance troupe that brings together students, professionals, and community members to learn and create. With VIGILANCE, they turn the unspoken routines of city life into something we can watch, feel, and talk about—an invitation to imagine safer streets and shared spaces not just as rules and warnings, but as something we create together with intention, kindness, and magical ways to lift each other up.
