KARST
Karst: an ecosystem where the dissolving of the rock has created a landscape of sinkholes, sinking streams, caves, springs, underground cliffs, waterfalls and more.
You can’t get back the time once it has passed. Regret is a woeful place where the choices we have made haunt us for generations and where would’ves, should’ves and could’ves are played on loop. With the world engulfed in natural disasters, endless wars, and extreme evolutions, we were left with few choices. The signs were right in front of us, we just had salt in our eyes. In time we all understood that for the weary yet unbroken and for the sorrowful yet hopeful, that deep hollow underground awaits. We must begin anew and all signs lead to KARST. Follow the signs. All who seek are welcome.
Salarium Karst is set within a fictional dystopian world, thousands of years in the future, where civilization has collapsed and rebuilt itself countless times. We join our story more than 3000 years after humanity has gone underground and the citizens are beginning to question the cultural microcosm in which they are living.
Salarium Karst is an immersive, contemporary circus installation performance hosted within the Halifax Central Library (main floor and Paul O’Regan Hall). The story of Salarium Karst will be told via several chapters. Audience members (aka seekers) can choose to watch one, a few or all of the chapters that will be presented over the 6-hour span in which the performance.
