Isioma Mafiana (he/him) is a Nigerian student doing his master’s in architecture focusing on the missing identities of the Black Nova Scotian in Halifax. His work goes beyond the classroom as he is interested in the betterment of the black population. He has worked as supervisor and student assistant with the Experience in Architecture workshop program headed James Forren, which aims to introduce Black kids to the wonders of architecture and the new avenues it can take one to. It also allows the kids to express themselves through crafts. He hopes to continue his work in the black community after being done with his master’s degree.
