MEANDER is a sensuous geography directing you through inquiry and reflection. This double spiral labyrinth is an uninterrupted shell for (the illusion of) isolation. Meditation, solitude, wander, rest.

DRIFT is a two part sound installation to be experienced while entering, moving through, and exiting the labyrinth. It asks listeners where they feel most connected to the universe, and invites them to think about being alone as a chance to make space for that connection.

The labyrinth is built with circular design practices in mind: second hand snow fencing is used for the walls. To further incorporate meditative elements into the building of the labyrinth, second hand fabrics and discarded fishing ropes supplied by the Scotian Shores beach clean-up team are woven into the walls. The weaving techniques embrace the slow moving qualities of the movement embodied by the installation. MEANDER/DRIFT premiered at Eastern Front Theatre's MACRO Series: ISOLATIONS in March 2023 with Design Mentorship from Holly Meyer-Dymny.

ACCESS NOTES: MEANDER's hallways are 8 feet wide for wheelchair access and clear of obstructions. DRIFT uses headphones. Transcript is available.
