Drifted Collective

Drifted Collective

Drifted is a Black / African Nova Scotian organization led by Black dancers, performers, and creatives who aim to bring representation and accessible art and dance training to Kjipuktuk/Halifax and the wider artist community as a whole. They exist to provide an innovative approach to education and professional development through the lens of cultural experience and showcase and celebrate Black dancers and artists and their individual styles within their diverse set of skills and practises. They strive to build representation and access for Black and Indigenous children, youth and adults so that they can truly grow into a thriving epicentre of creators. In 2021 this group of professional Black dancers, artists, and creatives came together to form a collective. They believed there needed to be a space to gather, create and make long lasting effective change for their Black dance and artist community. The collective works collaboratively to reach their professional artistic goals, they strive to uplift each other to develop a place that they feel comfortable and supported within.
