Disco Beast follows a psychedelic unicorn as it wanders through a series of desolate commercial spaces, including an abandoned shopping mall and a luxury hotel lobby. The work references both medieval iconography of a unicorn in captivity and its appearance in popular culture to build a new mythology about modern confinement by technology and materialism. The unicorn as symbol of otherworldliness and the unobtainable creates an arresting discordance with the everyday corporate spaces.

Created solely by the artist over the course of a year using high-end 3D animation software, and set to an original synth-pop score by D.C. based Furniteur, the work subversively appropriates the glossy visual aesthetics of commercials as a means to offer a critical reflection on the technological landscape it is created in.The film is designed as a continuous loop, with no definite beginning or end. It shows the unicorn in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, drawing a parallel to the ceaseless cycle of consumption. Although humorous and ambiguous, the work makes a serious metaphor about the dehumanizing and alienating effects of society’s growing technological dependency.
