This project features two composite art pieces created by each school community and Gaelic Milling songs; the project is inter-generational and involves approximately four hundred students plus staff, parents, and family members in each school comunity. In preparation for the project presentation, the students learned three Gaelic Milling songs as well as some basic Gaelic language. At the beginning of the evening, students from each school community are featured singing ancient Gaelic Milling songs, demonstrating how to move the blanket in rhythm to the singing. As the evening progresses, members of the Gaelic community support the Milling Frolic. Audience participation is encouraged. Additionally, the students have created an art piece designed to reflect the diversity in each school. The Milling Frolic will be the means to come together to celebrate each school’s diversity.
