structures/voids invites participants to immerse themselves into a deep listening experience filled with electronic tones, irregular timbres, and spatial echoes. // structures / vides invite le public à s'immerger dans une expérience d'écoute de sons électroniques, de timbres irréguliers et d'échos spatiaux.
Performances are seated and in the dark. Each performance is 15-20 minutes long and will begin every half hour.
structures/voids is the merging of analogue sine waves and concrete structural mass. Set as a live installation study, each listeners experience will differ from one another. Through the use of a modular synth, a series of tones and timbres will be panned out into the 300,000 cubic foot space from six speakers surrounding the seated audience. These electronic tones and pulses will draw out the idiosyncrasies and acoustic resonance of the vast void, creating irregular timbres, phase cancellation, and other sonic oddities. Each performance will last approximately 20 minutes.
