The experience begins as you approach the elevators of the studio where staff greet you and personally escort you to the Funhouse. As soon as you arrive, the sound and light welcome you in. The installations include an interactive green space where audience members reconnect with nature in an urban environment and have the chance to reflect on how the environment is changing in K’jipuktuk/Halifax (and around the planet). Complete with popcorn, there is a screening of an original short film in the small auditorium; the film describes how to use scaffolds in an animator's work and bring characters and stories to life in the Islands of Misfits Media studio. The space is the screen and the virtual characters have more freedom in their space than humans do since they are not weighed down by gravity or society’s gaze and they don’t have to obey traffic lights, or travel along sidewalks, or watch the roads. As you move through the Funhouse, you can travel through a fun temporary Fort built with colourful blankets and pillows and participate in an interactive community build where you can choose various cardboard structures to build a neighbourhood.Throughout the Funhouse, guides are available to direct visitors and answer questions, encouraging you to explore and have fun.
