The Poets Grotto
A temporary paper tunnel/cave created from rolled book pages that the audience are invited pick a page from to then create a black out poem on that page. Audience members are invited to keep the page as a souvenir.
This project is a 3 foot wide x 8 foot long tunnel/cave-like structure made of chicken wire with rolled book pages inserted into the mesh to create a highly textured and immersive environment. Audience members are encouraged to engage with the structure by choosing a rolled page from the wire and to create a black out poem with the words on that page. The structure is temporary, as are the texts on the pages within it. Throughout the night, the structure will change as the audience selects from the page and creates black out poetry. Each audience member will experience a new environment throughout the night and, at the end of the night, the tunnel/cave will disappear.
