The museum's special exhibition, The World of Yousuf Karsh: A Private Essence, will close at the end of the day on Sunday, October 16th. In order to give the public one last opportunity to see the exhibition without paying admission, we are offering special access on Saturday, October 15th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In addition, a team of NSCAD MA students will be on hand to provide guiding questions for exhibition exploration and help attendees take their own portraits in the style of Yousuf Karsh and print a copy to take home. As we connect through the lens, we pay tribute to Karsh, whose legacy includes a shift away from stodgy, overly posed portraits toward unguarded photographs that allow viewers to see a subject's essence. Yousuf Karsh's humanistic view towards his subjects, as well as his attention to detail, set him apart from other portrait artists of his time and provided inspiration to subsequent generations of artists.
