NOISEMAKERS Collaborative Print Exhibition

This exhibition features a suite of large-scale textiles hand-printed by seven newcomer artists. Responding to the festival theme "Legacies", the group designed motifs unique to each person’s upbringing and took rubbings of personal belongings and the streets of north end Halifax. These prints bear witness to the group's collaboration and collective storytelling through textures, colours and gestures.

This collaboration took place in Fall 2022 at the NOISEmakers' shared studio at Wonder'neath Art Society, facilitated by Jenny Yujia Shi with support from Eryn Foster and Amruta Dnyanmote.

NOISEmakers is a summer art workshop series brought to you by Nocturne and ISANS. The project, funded by the Province of Nova Scotia, is an opportunity to build belonging, strengthen connections, and create art in public spaces with Newcomers and Immigrants. Each year we organize a new way to connect cross-culturally and use art as a catalyst for connection here in Mi'kma'ki. This year, in partnership with Wonder’neath Art Society, the program offered a free professional development program and access to a shared studio space at Wonder’neath for seven newcomer artists and makers. This program aimed to support each artist to make connections, learn new skills, and better understand the arts and cultural sector in Nova Scotia.
