Hetkugan: a message to the ancestors
This project will engage with the communal idea that we can reconnect and retrieve ancestral knowledge through gathering and collective action. Together, we will create a beam of light to the heavens where the Hetkugan reside.

We have been stripped of language and voice. Lost creative expression and connection passed down through generations of our people. But now we take back what is ours and shine brightly, alerting the world of our presence and our connections. Now, we commune with the ancestors
This project will engage with the communal ideology that collective gathering and communication can create.
The goal is for participants to congregate around the installation and clap to an instrumental. Once a threshold of sound has been made, a song recording will play, the light display will get brighter, and participants will be rewarded for their work with a music track.
