DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN - Grafton Park
DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN at Grafton Park comprises of dazzling light shows projected on the former Halifax Memorial Library façade over the fall & winter months. The light shows are a Downtown Halifax Business Commission placemaking initiative, meant to brighten up Downtown, and they change over the seasons to reflect (and celebrate) relevant cultural themes. While you’re there, be sure to check out the enchanting tree-wrapped lights.
ON NOW: The “Mi’kmaq History Month” light show, which can we seen 7:30PM-11PM each night.
As part of our DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN lighting installations, DHBC developed a new light projection series that displays vibrant and captivating light shows onto the former Halifax Memorial Library building at Grafton Park. In addition to the aforementioned 'Mi'kmaq History Month' show, the series features a total of 17 different light shows over five months (Sept 30, 2023 - Mar 31, 2024) that change to reflect relevant seasonal, heritage, and cultural themes. Each month comprised of a main show that was accompanied by a shorter show. The light shows are as follows:

In addition, the trees surrounding Grafton Park are wrapped with white lights which make the area even more captivating at night. These bold and innovative lighting installations are a must-see attraction that inject new life into an underutilized area. This ultimately gives individuals a reason to linger and socialize in the area.
