Moon Bells

Moon Bells is a part-installation and part-improvised performance featuring suspended ceramic bells made by designer/composer, Roxanne Nesbitt. These instruments are inspired by the mythology and cyclically evolving shape of the moon. The performance features Roxanne Nesbitt with ceramics and voice, drummer Ben Brown on suspended bells, and Nicole Rampersaud on trumpet with effects.

Moon Bells offer the audience an intimate view of the exciting world of experimental instrument design. The ceramic bells structure both the performance space and the improvised sound palette. These freshly-crafted hybrid instruments inspire new ways of making and experiencing sound, celebrating the creative possibilities of the interdisciplinary concert.

This performance component is structured in 45-minute blocks. The piece can be experienced as an installation between performances.
