The Friends of the Public Gardens
The Friends of the Public Gardens (TFPG) is a registered charity with the mandate to encourage and support the preservation, enhancement, and celebration of the Halifax Public Gardens for everyone's ongoing enjoyment. Thousands of people visit the Gardens every year to admire the artistry of the gardeners. Visitors, including locals and tourists alike, often document their memories by taking photos and sharing them on social media. We are frequently tagged in these photos and are so grateful to have a continuously updated archive of photos to admire the beauty of the Public Gardens and observe how the Gardens change and evolve. We are continuously awed by not only the talent of the photographers but also the diversity in photo subjects that celebrates everything we love about this gem in the heart of our city.
With this in mind, we are pleased to contribute to Nocturne Art at Night 2023 by sharing these images through a creative display at one of the Waterfront Chalets. We will display a collage of curated photos that we have been tagged in on our Instagram account (@hfxpublicgardens) and attribute each photo in the collage to the original creator by including their Instagram handles. TFPG volunteers will supervise the booth and talk to visitors about the installation and share their own stories about their experience of the Public Gardens. We also have a number of
informational pamphlets to distribute, which include illustrations from a local artist.
